Ken Block Shreds the Tires off this 2011 Ford Fiesta
If you haven't seen this video before, you really need to experience it, possibly more than once. Ken Block is truly a master, taking the 2011 Ford Fiesta to its absolute limits in France's Autodrome. There is so much to love about these videos if you are both a race fan and a marketer like myself. One, you get the feel the power of the Ford Fiesta, as Ken really hangs the car out there and lays the throttle down. The 360 degree controlled spins are truly amazing to watch, but I think one of my favourite parts of the video is when Ken Block is on a hard left hand turn, sideways of course, through a gate, entering onto the track. Just before he finishes the drift of the turn, Ken clips the back right fender of the car on the wall. They show an in car shot of Ken's face and it is absolutely priceless as he can see it coming.
This video, along with the other Gymkhana videos they have put together, really demonstrate the control possible with Ford Fiesta. The viewer gets a show, it's entertaining, it's fun, but it really drives the point home that this car connects with the drivers passion. From a marketing perspective, rally racing is a culture, Ken Block is an icon in the racing community and Ford has a huge following. I think what they have put together here, really connects with the Ford Fiesta customer segment. The millions of views on YouTube demonstrates the popularity of the piece, but has it converted to increased sales of the Ford Fiesta? How do you track the metrics on something like this?
